Outplacement for US Employers: Compare Three Coaching Providers

What US employers should compare first

For US employers, the central choice is whether conventional coaching is enough or departing workers also need recruitment-team jobs, hiring-manager introductions, or résumé distribution.[1][2][4][6]

Outplacement is an employer-sponsored benefit that helps terminated or laid-off employees move to another job or career, usually through a third-party career-transition provider.[1] Compare providers on three dimensions:

  • Coaching personalization: Is support tailored to career level, industry, location, and individual needs?[1]
  • Job-market access: Does the service provide conventional coaching, or does it also include job openings, recruitment connections, hiring-manager introductions, or résumé distribution?[1][2][4][6]
  • Geographic scope: Does contracted coverage match where participants live and seek work?[2][4][6]

LHH

  • Coaching personalization: LHH advertises personalized guidance from certified career coaches, a strategy customized to the employer’s workforce and goals, and support from early-career employees through senior executives.[2]
  • Job-market access: LHH reports thousands of live jobs within its specialized recruitment teams. This is a vendor-reported connection to opportunities, not a guaranteed placement.[2]
  • Geographic scope: LHH says it combines knowledge of US legal and social frameworks with global reach.[2]

Korn Ferry

  • Coaching personalization: Korn Ferry describes personal assessments, individualized coaching, upskilling, branding, interview preparation, onboarding, redeployment, and well-being support through an integrated platform.[4]
  • Job-market access: Korn Ferry says its talent-acquisition relationships can connect displaced employees with hiring managers and available roles. This is a vendor-reported capability, not an independently verified outcome.[4]
  • Geographic scope: Korn Ferry positions its platform for organizations with one office or multiple locations worldwide.[4]

Reaction Search International

  • Coaching personalization: RSI advertises one-to-one coaching for individuals or groups, personalized to the employer’s requirements and each departing employee’s needs.[6]
  • Job-market access: RSI offers résumé distribution to hiring managers and decision-makers. This goes beyond conventional coaching, but distribution does not demonstrate an interview or placement.[1][6]
  • Geographic scope: RSI identifies a Seattle office and markets Seattle-focused services to national and international businesses; participant coverage outside the Seattle area is not specified.[6]

How job-market access differs

Outplacement support does not automatically include recruiter involvement. ADP describes conventional coaches as advisers who do not staff positions, locate openings, or submit applications.[1] LHH’s recruitment-team jobs, Korn Ferry’s hiring-manager introductions, and RSI’s résumé distribution are distinct mechanisms, and their pages do not establish how often those services lead to interviews, offers, or placements.[2][4][6]

Ask each bidder to define access in writing: who makes the connection, whether listed openings are public or exclusive, whether the provider submits applications, and what report confirms an introduction or résumé distribution.

Verify participant privacy

The LHH, Korn Ferry, and RSI service pages do not publish employer visibility into participant activity, coaching-note confidentiality, data sharing, retention, deletion rights, or individual usage reporting; ADP’s pricing form says privacy is assured, while Korn Ferry applies its Global Privacy Policy to contact-form submissions.[1][2][4][6]

Before enrollment, request the privacy agreement, data-processing terms, retention schedule, participant notice, and coaching-confidentiality policy. Require written answers covering:

  • Participant fields and activity visible to the employer
  • Aggregate reporting versus identifiable reporting
  • Access to coaching notes and session records
  • Subprocessors and other data recipients
  • Retention periods, deletion requests, and data exports
  • Storage, sharing, and deletion of résumés and job-search data

What to confirm with each provider

LHH, Korn Ferry, and RSI do not publish provider-specific pricing or the purchasing details below on their service pages.[1][2][4][6] Request an itemized quote and draft agreement covering:

  • Per-participant pricing, other fee components, and minimum enrollment
  • Package limits and included coaching sessions
  • Coach availability, response times, and human-coaching duration
  • Portal duration, activation deadlines, and expiration rules
  • Geographic exclusions and participant eligibility
  • Contract length, renewal, cancellation, termination, and refund terms
  • Service commitments and remedies if they are missed

Use the same participant numbers, coaching duration and career levels in every quotation. Separate live coaching access, booked-session allowances and portal access, because they can expire at different times.

Korn Ferry says coaching is available as often as needed and online-site access continues indefinitely.[4] The contract should define whether this language covers live coaching, portal tools, content, or a combination.

Healthcare leadership options

ACHE lists Bravanti, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Felix Global, Kada Health, Korn Ferry, LAK Group, Lee Hecht Harrison, and Wiederhold & Associates as healthcare-management outplacement firms. The page is a directory, not an evaluation or ranking, and it does not compare prices or outcomes.[3]

Make the final selection

  1. Confirm coaching format, coach assignment, switching procedures, scheduling, and escalation for each career level and location.
  2. Require a written description of any recruitment connection, hiring-manager introduction, or résumé-distribution workflow.
  3. Approve privacy terms only after reviewing both employer-facing terms and the participant notice.
  4. Compare total contractual cost, service limits, eligibility, coverage, and cancellation terms.
  5. Request customer-satisfaction results and the percentage of participants finding jobs; ADP recommends considering both when selecting a provider.[1]
  6. For each outcome claim, request the population, measurement period, denominator, exclusions, and definition of placement.
